UNO MINDA, NK Minda Group's journey towards becoming an International player started in 1997 when it finalized its first order for Switches with one of the leading two wheeler manufacturers in Europe. Fifteen years hence, the Group has won customers across the globe.

The Group has become a multinational organization with operations across different parts of the globe:

2 / 3 – Wheeler Segment

The Group has many renowned two wheeler manufacturers in its customer list viz;

In 2005, the Group became the first Indian company to set up a manufacturing facility in Indonesia. Today PT Minda ASEAN Ltd. is a renowned automotive component supplier to OEMs across ASEAN region.

Besides making a conscious effort to increase the geographical spread, the Group has also entered into new Customer segments such as:

  • Leisure vehicles (All Terrain Vehicles, Snowmobiles and Cruising motorcycles),
  • Lawn Mowers
  • Tractors
  • Household indoor appliances (electric cooking range).

In the North American market, NK Minda Group is already working with customers such as Polaris, John Deere and Electrolux for the above product ranges.

The Group has also moved towards a systematic approach for building and creating value in the product portfolio. Today the Group offers complete assembly for Handle Bar Switches instead of merely the basic product offering, thereby reducing customer sourcing cost and inventory.

The Group has opened a state-of-the-art Design Centre in Taiwan. The opening of the Design Centre in the city of Tainan is strategic to Minda's self reliance initiatives, for which it has invested approximately USD 783 K. With the opening of this Design Centre, N K Minda group has extended its Engineering wing for designing and developing automotive lighting products. The Design Centre will give a necessary fillip to the group's expertise in optical and mechanical designing of automotive lamps, in addition to capitalising on the strategic advantage of Taiwan as an established and high quality, yet cost effective, destination for tooling.

The group opened a Strategic Sourcing Office in Ningbo in China in September 2006 with a view to developing long term component and supplier base; and to move towards establishing a manufacturing base in China, catering to both domestic market and exports.

Besides its operations and manufacturing facilities in India and the ASEAN region, NK Minda Group has representation in Vietnam, Italy, Japan, USA and Brazil. Currently, the exports account for 17% of NK Minda Group turnover, and are a strategic focus for the Group, going forward.
